A Small, Unexpected Blessing

Sick! Sick! Sick!

Everyone in the house has been sick! My very beloved Grandma came to visit, and even she was sick! My energy level has been at an all time low, and I have just doing what I really "had to" do. Needless to say, my cheer quotient was low going into December.

But then I had a good morning. I felt a little pep. I found the one important bin of decorations and set a few things out. Changed the tablecloth to something a bit cheery.

I went to pick up the kids for carpool, and knowing that my neighbor had a sick baby and a ton of work to do, I called and offered to keep her older kids at my house for the afternoon. (Lest you think I am angelic or something, not really. Her kids keep my kids busy, happy, and entertained, and leave me quite free to get dinner started...)

I promised the kids a snack, and my festive cheer from the decorating just kept going. So I made hot chocolate and got out some graham crackers, which were served in holiday style on my Christmas tree paper napkins from Target.

In the moment of calling the kids in for their snack, I was so happy. So filled with cheer. For one little time, I had managed to bless my children, I had helped a friend, I had made my home a happy place to be.

This just may be a perfect December day!
